Merry Christmas and happy holidays to you, members of the council. I have returned once again with yet another application. Unfortunately, I will be a recurring face on these discussion boards for the foreseeable future, so let me apologize ahead of time for adding more work to your plate. But at the same time, rejoice, as I present to you another soon-to-be-approved app that will set the bar for haki apps moving forward. So sit tight and enjoy!
What am I applying for today you may be wondering? Well, as so eloquently put in the title above, I'm applying for Forseti to have the following haki:
· Advanced Busoshoku Mastery (Internal Destruction & Emission Haki)
· Haoshoku Haki
You might be wondering, why don't you give your Christmas gift from the council to Forseti? Well, at the end of the day, I'd rather give it to someone who I may struggle to get approval for the ability rather than give it to someone who I believe is more than qualified.
Anyways let's get started!
Haoshoku Haki
When designing Forseti's character I wondered if he'd qualify for this ability. I don't give characters powers that don’t fit their overall theme, basis, or make-up of their overall design. Given that most marines don't traditionally have Haoshoku I operated under the assumption that he wouldn't possess the ability. But over time, as I continued to develop his plot, incorporate him into the storyline, and truly flesh out the character, I found him developing traits that coincide with that of Haoshoku users. Upon re-evaluating with a true sense of who the character is, I've come to realize he'd likely possess conqueror's spirit. Thus, utilizing the following questions as a guide, I'll elaborate on why I believe that's the case.
When did Forseti first awaken his haoshoku haki?
I decided to start off with this because I believe it offers a level of depth into the character that is important for the remainder of the app. Nearly three centuries since his conception, Forseti awakened haoshoku during a one-year battle against the Elbaf Military. To offer a bit of context, Forseti, many years ago, attempted to become King of Elbaf but Redbeard was selected instead of him. Decades later, following Redbeard's death and as a Vice-Admiral in the marines, he tried to organize an alliance with Elbaf only for it to fall short at the hands of Kong and Barbara. These two instances offer a bit of insight into a common pattern in Forseti's background, his inability to seize the opportunity. Allowing things to come to him for the vast majority of his life, Forseti was always reactive instead of proactive. At least until Kong declared war. Knowing that Elbaf's military could play a crucial role in the opposition winning the war, he demanded that he and his unit were tasked with preventing them from doing so, engaging his home World's Strongest Military in a one-year epic battle.
Towards the tail-end of this conflict, Forseti is dueling against the nation's Queen and his archenemies' daughter, Frederick Barbara. With the winner of the duel deciding who will come out victorious, Forseti declared.
"I will become the strongest! In this world of conquerors, I will become indomitable. Never will I ever fall to another opponent. Justice does not yield, and neither will I. I am Justice!"
Awakening Haoshoku there for the first time and shattering Dainsleif and blackening his weapon into a Saijō Ō Wazamono.
Outside of how badass this is, you might be wondering why I shared this with you or why I thought it was important to elaborate on this first. The reason why was to show his metamorphosis, his evolution into a conqueror. His change in mindset triggered the ability he's possessed throughout his life but never awakened because he never took it upon himself. Despite having faced some of the strongest characters in every generation and been put into situations where his will had been tested, he never awakened the technique until he realized he was the agent of change, taking it upon himself to bear the mantle of Justice, effectively personifying it.
What traits does Forseti possess that reflects that of a Haoshoku user?
First and foremost, it's his indomitable spirit. Literally nicknamed, Forseti the Unconquerable, the man has the most decorated list of opponents in the entire FC (outside of Kong), I checked. Many of these battles ended in either defeat or stalemate, but the context of these fights needs to be considered. Even against the strongest of opponents in Redbeard, Kong, and Bloodbeard, Forseti did not fall in a day or even two. His physical endurance and durability reflect that of his will and despite being a walking target who does not dodge or evade, he manages to stay afoot despite the monsters standing before him. And even in defeat, Forseti will strive to carry on, improve and retry, as he did in many encounters versus Redbeard and other times in his life. I do believe three instances can validate this point effectively.
First, his history against Kong. Before Kong was the God of the Skies, the two engaged each other and Forseti defeated him. A little over a decade later, the two met once again in Elbaf where Kong defeated him in their four-day duel. Psychologically, losing to an opponent you defeated years ago weighs a heavy toll on your mind especially when losing meant failing your decade long-assignment of allying with Elbaf. Yet he carried on, improved, and has become Elbaf's most recent conqueror.
Second, his failure to be promoted. Having been promoted to Vice-Admiral after God's Valley nearly thirty-five years ago, Forseti has seen his own students succeed him in being promoted despite his long-standing service and illustrious history with the Marines. Having served longer than most of his superiors have been alive, most would allow their resolve and dedication to Justice to falter but not Forseti. He's remained dedicated and unwavering in his goal to bring about peace.
Third, and this cannot be understated, the man fought one opponent for nearly four decades despite losing every single time until the last. No, I'm not exaggerating. Forseti engaged Skymir every day for almost four decades and suffered defeat every time until he eventually won. If this does not personify indomitable will then I don’t know what is. No one has successfully ever broken his spirit and I challenge you to find someone that will.
The second trait I believe Forseti possesses that reflects that of a haoshoku user is his leadership. Being the first giant to ever join the marines, he's a trailblazer. Humiliated by his fellow giants and persecuted by his fellow marines, he has no issue walking left when everyone is going right. He founded what I believe to be the strongest unit behind the Admirals, based on achievements in the fanon canon, in Giant Squad. And established a base in the New World remained unconquered since its conception thirty-four years ago in G-3. (Probably being the longest-standing Marine Base in the New World but didn't wanna say that without council approval). Even more so, he has been an influential figure in some of the most powerful and successful marines having trained Fermi, Chiyoko, Maelys, Mitsuki, and Milan all in Busoshoku Haki and introducing many of them to the hard realities of the New World. His unwillingness to yield despite suffer the blunt of things has encouraged many around him to rise, take arms and continue fights, offering a level of charisma that few can replicate. Forseti would never ask anyone to do anything he wouldn’t.
Lastly, I believe Forseti has recently acquired great ambitions. As highlighted on mother wiki, "Haoshuku Haki users need not been born of a royal bloodline, nor does it require one to strive to become royalty; it only needs one to have the greatest of ambitions." Forseti now strives to become the strongest, a personification of justice that is unyielding, enduring, and long-standing. With two pirate conquerors holding the title before him, he hopes to be the first marine to garner the "Strongest Creature" title. This new ambition is what triggered Forseti's evolution into a haoshoku user in the first place, as he's shown the other signs of those selected by the heavens throughout most of his life.
What is his goal?
While you may have gathered from context what exactly is his goal, I wanted to clarify and reiterate for the sake of brevity. Forseti's goal is to personify justice. Stating he wants to be "The Strongest" serves as a reflection of how he views the World Government and the Marines; an unconquerable regime that stands through the tests of time and endures one hardship after the next. Forseti has served for over a century because of this belief but during his engagement in Elbaf, he realized that he wants to personify justice. To become the strongest. To never yield to another opponent. To remain standing proudly and strongly in the face of unprecedented adversity. To protect others from the wrong do-ers of the world. At the end of the day, Forseti's goal is to become a reflection of what he believes the World Government stands for. Holding the great regime in unimaginably high regard, it is almost impossible for anyone to truly live up to those standards, and yet he vows to do it.
How does Forseti compare to other haoshoku users, in canon or fanon?
Mostly because I don't know who the haoshoku users are in the FC with no table on the page or anything, I'm not going to dive into comparing with FC users. However, I believe Forseti's path to kingmanship, if you will, parallels Kaido or Zoro mostly.
Starting off with my favorite yonko, it is heavily implied that Kaido was not born with unimaginable strength. Although I cannot say this for certain, given his introduction (stating that he's been captured, wounded, and engaged in many battles), his status with the Rocks Pirates (being an apprentice) and his devil fruit seemingly following the japanese carp becoming a dragon lore, I think everything is pointing to Kaido rising to power instead of him being born with it like Big Mom or Oden. And I believe Forseti's path mimics that in a sense. Forseti doesn't come from some noteworthy bloodline and didn't possess any supernatural characteristics beyond the norm for his race. Even his fruit doesn't provide him with exceptional powers. Forseti is a product of struggle and hardship. He's suffered from defeat countlessly but still finds the will to carry on and has improved because of it. Secondly, I believe the way they conquer over opponents will be reminiscent as well. Kaido does not hide or evade, he actually welcomes challenges and attacks, face them upfront and basically tanks it, which demoralizes opponents till eventually the lose their will to keep fighting. Forseti takes on a similar approach. Being a giant with people who can travel at the speed of lightning, light and even instantaneously, he simply take things at face value. Forseti doesn't exclusively fight to win, he fights strip the will of opponents of their will to ever rise up against him again. While he hasn't always found success doing this for most of his life, the proclamation of ambition mentioned earlier will serve as a turning point where it should hopefully be more successful moving forward.
So his ties to Zoro are some of the same parallels I believe he shares with Kaido. Zoro generally not the greatest swordsmen early on but but after a turning point in life and a vow to greatness he begins to work towards his dream. His life after his friend's death parallels much of Forseti's life prior to Elbaf, a lot of struggle a lot of failure but relentless perseverance. Then after confronting Mihawk, a rise to excellence where he vowed to never lose again. Forseti's proclamation in Elbaf is very similar to Zoro in this right, although Forseti's proclamation ended up leading to his victory.
Why do I personally want Forseti to have Haoshoku?
One thing in particular I've noticed from discussions on discord is people tend to give abilities to characters to validate them when in reality it should be the opposite. Characters should validate the ability. If we allow every strong-willed, individualistic character to inherit this ability then we have only diminished the ability itself.
The reason why I am interested in this ability for Forseti is not to validate him. Forseti has a laundry list of fights, one of the greatest weapons in the world, and will soon have a series of roleplays that will reflect how truly indomitable the man is. I'm not even applying for Advanced Haoshoku so the ability itself really has no impact on his skillset. What I seek from this ability is a reflection of growth in his personality and character. I've read a lot of these apps and most of the time people highlight why their characters are unique enough to have ability, which, albeit, is important. But I feel like haoshoku has become a tool to reflect importance instead of displaying the predominant traits of users which is to be agents of change. And with his recent declaration of new ambitions combined with all the other traits that he possesses that coincide with haoshoku, I want to accurately reflect that in his awakening of this ability.
So if you guys were to reject this app would it have an influence over his abilities or overall powers, not in the slightest. However, it will diminish the revelation he had in Elbaf which is supposed to be a turning point for his character. At the end of the day, although we discuss strength hierarchies a great deal. we are a site built around story primarily. Why I am for this ability is strictly out of narrative emphasis on a turning point in his personality and I believe you'd be to me and plot-line a great disservice by not approving him, especially given that I believe he possesses that qualities of that of a king.
Busoshoku Haki
So I don't think I need to go into as much detail here, at least compared my previous section. First I'll offer a brief synopsis of his busoshoku history:
As the first ever Giant to join the Marines, Forseti was determined to prove his loyalty. Seeking out Skymir, the first mate of the Giant Warrior Pirates, the two engaged epic forty year long duel. During this time, Forseti was introduced and developed the basics of haki, primarily busoshoku. From enhancement, to hardening, to infusion, Forseti became adept in all the basic application during this period which allowed him to triumph over Skymir.
Returning to the blue-seas, Forseti was welcomed back into a world very different from the one he left. With his nemesis Redbeard taking to the seas, he was tasked with challenging the Red Giant. However, with Redbeard possessing the awesome power of a logia, he was outclassed. In order to be of more use in the battles ahead, Napoleon introduced Forseti to haki flow and taught him the basics of emission haki. It was here where Forseti was acknowledged for his skills in busoshoku, learning the technique in record time and effectively using it in the future battles. During the time, he also learned how to use his more basic applications more effectively and efficiently, minimizing excessive overuse.
Following the fall of Redbeard in God's Valley and Forseti's promotion to Vice-Admiral, Forseti founded Giant Squad and based their operations in G-3. It's here where Forseti really began to master busoshoku. Needing to teach his subordinates haki, Forseti's own understanding improved allowing him to learn Internal Destruction on his own, after having seen it on multiple occasions from others. Outside of teaching, expeditions in the New World allowed him to further develop his haki, with his hardening starting to develop a flame-pattern consistently.
With a great deal of success in the New World, his base being one the few never been raided, along with his mastery of busoshoku, Forseti began to welcome marines seeking experience into the New World and hoping to learn busoshoku. Some marines that studied under him include but are not limited to: Fermi, Chiyoko, Maelys, Mitsuki, and Milan. It's here where Forseti became renowned among the marines as a master of busoshoku. Having mastered even the advanced applications to an incredible degree. He began to develop savvy techniques from the advanced applications
At some point before the Great Pirate Era, Diane visited G-3 and the two developed two techniques with emission applications in mind together.
So one thing I was considering doing but am unsure if this will be allowed or not is permanently blackening Forseti's skin. As tank and someone who uses busoshoku constantly, Forseti has permanently blackened his skin in a similar way to how swords are permanently blackened. It's a concept I'd love to implement and can reflect his mastery, giving him the epithet "All-Black Forseti". How exactly this would occur is basically by using infusion on himself. Rather than coating himself as traditionally done, Forseti infuses haki into his entire physique (which naturally requires more haki). Overtime and through constant exposure to other forms of advanced usage, Forseti's body would begin to darken until it was finally permanently blemished, enhancing his physical capabilities tremendously as a result. (Just as black swords, this does not mean Forseti does not have to utilize haki into to touch the substantial body of devil fruit users, this is still the case)
Finally, Forseti has permanently blacked his supreme blade weapon.
Just a brief explanation as to why busoshoku mastery is of the utmost importance to Forseti's skillset. As a nearly seventy-foot target, Forseti essentially has to endure nearly all attacks directed at him. While his fruit helps minimize the damages, he truly relies on his busoshoku haki as means to remain standing in the face of some the most terrifying attacks on could endure. Forseti relies on this skill more so than anyone else because he's a tank. He's someone who can simply into different locations in an instant so he had to develop this skill as a means of survival against the most fearsome opponents in the world.
As haki is developed through intense combat, I will send Forseti's laundry list of battles once again to reflect why he should not only possess the two advanced applications but also why his haki would be revered as one of the most potent in the entire world:
Forseti vs Redbeard 6x (varying times; one fight last one entire week)
Forseti vs Mischa 4x (varying times; one fight lasted 2 days)
Forseti vs Kong (23 hours)
God's Valley
Forseti vs Toshiro
Forseti vs Pinkbeard
Forseti vs Greenbeard
Forseti vs Silverbeard
Forseti vs Goldbeard
Forseti vs Wukong (four days)
Forseti vs Tygrve (two years)
Forset vs Tatsuya Ryushiki (20 hours)
Forseti vs Edo Shishio
Forseti vs Rumlar Zelgius (three days)
And there are more to be added in the past and many to come in the future. With roleplay plots agaisnt Yonko and former admirals in place, it would obviously be a huge help if these abilities are granted to me.
So briefly I'll highlight how Forseti would utilize these advanced techniques. With regards to emission, Forseti obvious uses it in the traditional sense to block and harm targets. However, he's also developed two techniques from emission; one that allows him to create paths to redirect attacks targeting him. The second, one that allows him the the redirect the flow of foreign haki within body in order to minimize or complete diffuse damage.
Forseti would utilize Internal Destruction in combination with his weapon to keep targets in-place by utilizing the unmovable aspect of its ability but also and then shattering them using the power. Being a giant, the internal destruction he produces obviously covers a much greater area than a human. More with regards to this ability coming soon Internal Destruction would offer a bit more offensive complexity for a man who is primarily defensive, so it's quite necessary.
Alright, that's about it. Hopefully I've convinced ya he's worthy of both but if not, I'll take either lol. One I apply on the basis of story and the other as a quintessential component of his fighting style. Let me know if you guys have any questions and sorry for the long application!
