Message From the Past[]

Introduction Towards Shuten Dōji.

Somewhere in the seas of New World is the unnamed crew consisting of Akira, Godspeed, and the newly joined member, Shuten Doji. “Yo Captain, what are we doing in the New World. You didn’t really say anything about it,” says Shuten Doji as he walks on the deck of their ship. On the deck sleeping on the side of the ship is his captain, Akira. “Yo Captain, you good?” He walks over to Akira to check if he’s alive, dead, or just sleeping. He takes off the newspaper on Akira’s face and sees him fully asleep like a bear that went into hibernation. “I can’t believe he’s sleeping again.” He looks around to see if Godspeed is anywhere on the deck and sees him flying around the ship, catching fish. “Hey, Godspeed. Do you know where we are going,” he says and sees Godspeed almost fall into the water. “Be careful my guy, you are a devil fruit user after all and I don’t think the captain would like to find you dead. He’s very fond of you.” Godspeed then floats back onto the ship with his hands full of fish and drops it on Akira. “Just two more minutes,” Akira says with the fish slowly dripping down his face. Shuten Doji takes the fish off, one by one, and crouches down. “Yo Captain, you awake.” Akira snuffs and slowly opens his eyes. “Oh Doji, what’s up,” He says as he then realizes what Godspeed just did. “Oh, you bastard.” He jumps up and runs after Godspeed that is floating in the air. As Godspeed is floating around and up to the crows’ nest, Akira, using his agility, jumps off the ground and up to a ledge that he then makes a backflip right up to the crows’ nest. “Haha, you can’t outrun me. Your name might literally be the god of speed but I am faster.” He proudly says.

On the deck stands Shuten Doji just staring at them as they make their way up to the crows’ nest. “Can you two stop fooling around and tell me where we are going?” he says. Akira simply looks down for a second and looks at the front of the ship. He points and says. “Right there, that’s where we’re going.” Not far off the ship is a beautiful island with massive palm trees and a beautiful beach that stretches throughout the entire island. The only structure visible is a huge stone temple in the center of the island that’s right next to a massive volcano. The clouds around the island are almost non-visible and look like they are intentionally avoiding being above it.

“Alright, that’s cool and all but what are we doing here?” Doji asks as he seems to be the only one that has no idea. Akira jumps down from the crows' nest and almost slams head first onto the deck but Godspeed manages to grab him by his belt before he could. “It’s simple, on a winter island we were on, not that long ago, me and Godspeed found this stone thing with a bunch of text on it. Thanks to Gaston, we managed to translate the text, and it eventually led us to here. Now can you please put me down Godspeed.” he says as Godspeed puts him down. “Thank you, buddy.” he says and proceeds with “Now, what do you say Doji? Are you up for it?” Doji sighs and says “Why not, it’s not like I have a choice in this matter.” Akira smiles and begins to run to the front of their ship. “Great, I can’t wait to see what’s in store for us.”

As the crew comes closer and closer to the island and eventually dock their ship, they can see how massive the island is. The temple, volcano, and even the palm trees are way bigger than they thought, and were sort of surprised by the scale of it. “This island is huge, it’s like ten times bigger than that winter island,” Akira says and signals to Godspeed to scout the island for any animals or people living on the island. “Doji, stay behind me at all times. I have a bad feeling about this place.” Akira says as Godspeed takes off and flies at a fast speed around the island. “Understood Captain,” Doji says and puts his hand on his hilt to get ready for anything. The two then head into the forest of palm trees and await for Godspeed to come back. “Captain, if you don’t mind me asking, why did you become a pirate. You don’t seem to be the type to become a pirate or criminal for that matter.” Doji asks. Akira briefly looks over at Doji and replies. “Well, originally I set out to find my dad that I was told to be a legendary pirate, but I don’t know if that’s even true anymore. I mean, look at me. Do you think that I would be the son of a legendary pirate.” he says and looks briefly back at Doji again. “He left me on Zou, the walking island, at a young age. It was hard for me to be the only human on an island covered in minks, but I managed to pull through and I quickly became popular.” Doji sort of thinks for a second about what to say. “If you didn’t have a dad then who raised you, and what about your mom,” he says and doesn’t expect a response. “Well, I was raised by minks but I fit more in with the abe and monkey minks. They took me in, trained me, and taught me everything. I can’t thank them enough.” he says and Doji quickly realizes that he intentionally avoided talking about his mom. “I didn’t expect you to even answer one question that I asked. I mean, we barely know each other.” Doji says and Akira turns around with a big smile on his face. “It’s because we’re friends. You're like family to me.”

Right after Akira says this, Godspeed comes floating down and taps Akira on the shoulder, scaring him. “AHHHH, goddammit Godspeed. Stop doing that,” he says and proceeds with. “For Eneru's sake. Well, what did you find?” Godspeed shrugs and shows Akira a torn-up pirate flag that just looks to be a regular flag with skull and bones. “Hmmm, a pirate flag. It looks old so I don’t think it’s anything new. Did you find anything else?” He asks but Godspeed gives a thumbs-down and sort of shrugs again. “Alright then, let's proceed further into the island and see what we have to deal with," Akira says while both Godspeed and Doji give a thumbs up and proceed to follow their captain. “Ehm captain, I’m kinda wondering how you and Godspeed met. Again you don’t have to answer but I’m just wondering since you two are not a common pair.” Doji asks. Akira looks over at Doji for just a second and replies with. “Well, not long after I left Zou I saw Godspeed being surrounded by a group of marines, so I saved him. I later found out that they were a group of captains and I got my first bounty at 30,000,000. Not a bad first bounty I would say.” Doji then says. “Not bad captain, to be honest, you deserve a much higher bounty but I guess you haven't had much time to show what you got.” Akira looks over at Doji with a blushed face and says. “Thanks Doji. I’m happy to have you on the crew.”

As the crew went further in between the palm trees, they could see a clearing not that far ahead. “Oh look, a clearing. That might be where the temple is.” Akira says and the crew begins to walk a little faster. They then enter the clearing and see the massive temple with the volcano beside it. “Wow, it’s so much bigger when you're up close,” Akira says and looks over at Godspeed. “Are you sure that there are no animals or humans on this island.” Godspeed just stands with his signature big smile and gives a thumbs up. Akira then looks back at the temple and says. “Hmmm, weird. Such a huge island but no people or animals. I know it’s the Grand Line but this is strange.” He then looks up and sees no clouds or birds. “Normally there would be some wildlife but there’s none. I haven't even seen a single bird. Strange.” He says and looks back down at the temple. “Oh well, makes it more exciting I guess.” Doji looks at the temple with a worried face. “Ehm, captain. Do you hear anything,” he says and looks at Akira. Akira stops and looks back at Doji. “Not a single thing, not even the wind. It’s like this place is not even real, I can’t even hear the ocean from here.” Akira replies and gets a little more serious. “Doji, Godspeed, be on guard. This place has a certain feel to it and I don’t like it.”

As the crew walks closer and closer to the temple, the fear and pressure can be felt through the missing air. The silence has been replaced with fear and an uneasy feeling. This feeling is a mixture of fear, danger, and most of all, sadness. Even with the fear, a linkering feel of sadness floats in the air. The only sound that can be heard is the dead leaves and branches on the ground from the crew stepping on them. The crew's breathing is heavy and echoes throughout the entire clearing while they come closer and closer to the temple entrance. The door-like structure in front of them is huge and made of stone with writing on them. The crew reorganizes the writing as the same on the tablet but seems to be writing with more care. The tablet writing looks rushed and was probably made in a hurry.

As the crew gets to the entrance were they can touch the wall, Akira notices a small square that sticks a little out then the rest. “Lets see if this works,” he says and pushes the small square so it fits the rest. Silence. It does nothing. “Well, that was dissapoiting,” he says as the wall suddenly starts to move forward and then splits in the middle to open up. “Wow, that’s cool,” he says and looks around. “Oh, no death spikes or lions. Well, I guess we were worried for nothing.” Akira then begins to walk in while the rest of the crew follow him. The carridoor is dark and they would have to relai on their haki to sense their surondings. “Captain, you know observation haki, right?” Doji says and looks at his captain with the small amount of light from the outside cleaming onto them. “Of course,” he says and proceeds with. “On Zou we began learning at the age of just four. I’m quite good at it actually but armament is my go-to haki. It’s what I trained with the most.” As they make about half way through the carridoor, the entrance behind them begin to close and lights on the walls begin to lit up. “Ok, that’s REALLY cool.” Another wall then begins to open up right in front of them revealing another room with three tunnels that go in their own directions. On to the left, right and center. “It’s probably best if we split up,” Akira says and looks at the crew that seems to not like that idea. “Thank Eneru, I just said that to sound cool.” As the crew walks into the center of the room the see a large moral on the walls telling some sort of story. “Doji, your on my right. Godspeed, your on my left. I’ll be in the front,” Akira says and looks at the moral. “Some sort of large battle or something. A big four armed beast that save the island or something. Well, whatever. Let’s take the middle first and see if we find anything enteresting.”

As the crew gets to the entrance where they can touch the wall, Akira notices a small square that sticks a little out then the rest. “Let's see if this works,” he says and pushes the small square so it fits the rest. Silence. It does nothing. “Well, that was disappointing,” he says as the wall suddenly starts to move forward and then splits in the middle to open up. “Wow, that’s cool,” he says and looks around. “Oh, no death spikes or lions. Well, I guess we were worried for nothing.” Akira then begins to walk in while the rest of the crew follows him. The corridor is dark and they would have to rely on their haki to sense their surroundings. “Captain, you know observation haki, right?” Doji says and looks at his captain with the small amount of light from the outside cleeming onto them. “Of course,” he says and proceeds with. “On Zou we began learning at the age of just four. I’m quite good at it actually but armament is my go-to haki. It’s what I trained with the most.” As they make about halfway through the corridor, the entrance behind them begins to close and lights on the walls begin to lit up. “Ok, that’s REALLY cool.” Another wall then begins to open up right in front of them revealing another room with three tunnels that go in their own directions. On to the left, right, and center. “It’s probably best if we split up,” Akira says and looks at the crew that seems to not like that idea. “Thank Eneru, I just said that to sound cool.” As the crew walks into the center of the room they see a large moral on the walls telling some sort of story. “Doji, you're on my right. Well, whatever. Let’s take the middle first and see if we find anything interesting.”

5 Minutes Later

After going for a few minutes, the crew finds themselves in front of another door. This one, however, is on the smaller side and nowhere close to the magnitude of the previous one. "Hmmm... it's a regular door. A regular wooden door." Akira says as he begins to fitched with the handle, but to no avail. Getting more and more frustrated over such an object winning over him, it gets to the point where his feet are no longer on the floor but resting on the walls beside the door. His grip loosens and he falls onto his butt. Shuten Doji is looking at Akira struggling with the door handle and walks over to him. "Captain, do you need any help?" He asks but only gets an angry look from Akira. "NO, I'VE GOT THIS!" He says but before he could get back up and try again, Godspeed walks past and opens the door. It just so happens that Akira was pulling instead of pushing it. "Well, that's another way to do it." He exclaims and gets back onto his feet, brushing some of the dust of himself.

As they walk in, torches start to light up by themselves and lightening the room. The room looked to be a sleeping quarter with a table, bed, and bookcase. The bookcase had fallen onto the ground, scattering the books and papers all over the room. It still had that feeling of a rusty ruin but was in surprisingly good condition. The only exception was a big hole in the wall where the bookcase had probably once stood. "Well, this place looks like crap," Akira says and immediately begins to crawl onto the bed and starts to jump on it. Shuten Doji, however, is more interested in what's on the other side of that hole in the wall, so he walks over to it and is stunned at what he sees. "Ehm, captain. I know you're having fun but come and look at this for a second." He says and gestures to Akira that he should approach and take a look.

"Alright, alright. I'll come and take a look... Oh, WOOoW!" He says in almost awe of this beautiful sight. The room that they had stumbled into was the main throne room with a large table that went from one end to the other, both in length and width. The table was filled with eating utensils made of gold and silver. Banners, paintings, and other forms of art were scattered around the room. The roof had crashed down, so light shines onto the throne and a skeleton of high stature would be seated on the throne. He had a crown, a golden sword on his hip and a chest tucked into his hands. Behind the skeleton were piles of treasure, ranging from gold coins to weapons of equal value. This was the only form of life that the crew had seen until now so it was a surprise to be sure.

"Well, looks like we found the jackpot boys!" Akira says before approaching the throne that the skeleton is seated. Ignoring the gold and silver, Akira steps close to the skeleton and looks intensely into his eye sockets. "Hmmm, he guarded this with his life. All the treasure was behind him, but he wanted to keep this thing protected." He says and gently removes the skeleton's hands away from the chest. Shuten Doji is more intrigued by the art of this place than the treasures themselves. "Sometimes the smaller and more plain things are that of more value." He says, briefly looking over at his captain before turning his attention back to the paintings. "Would you mind if I kept some of this, the paintings that is." Akira looks over at Doji for just a brief moment. "Yeah, take whatever you want. All I want is this chest." He says and looks over at Godspeed who stands right next to him like he always does. "You know what, you've been standing by my side for a while now so it's about time that you get something in return." Akira says and goes to the large pile of treasure, picking a few golden accessories to put on Godspeed. "You know what, you look beautiful my friend." He says and smiles.

He then turns to Doji and puts the chest on the large table in front of them. "Well, we are pirates after all. I guess, we kinda have to take this stuff." He says, almost jokingly but is merely worried that other pirates could get their hands on it and use it to course harm. "Doji, would be a sweetheart and collect all the banners." He says and Doji merely nods as he starts picking the banners down, one by one. Akira joins in and collects them on the table. "Alright, help me tie these together to one big banner of sorts," Akira says while both he and Doji starts to tie the banners together. Godspeed hasn't moved much since they came in and after the two had finished, he throws all of the gold accessories onto the big banner. "You read my mind Godspeed." He says and turns to Doji who sorta knows what his captain's plans are, but Akira goes over to the side of Doji and stands. "Do your thing Godspeed." He says as the big piece of cloth flies and swings itself around the pile of gold. The four ends of the banner all scoop under the gold, and ties itself at the top with a beautiful bow.

"Alright boys, let's head home. The sea doesn't wait for long!" He says loudly and proudly. He then immediately begins to walk into the wrong that they came from but gets stopped by his clothes almost floating. He turns back and sees Godspeed and Doji floating together with the big pile of gold. Godspeed makes them float out of the hole that had shined through the temple and Akira jokingly makes a swimming motion until he pretends to drown in mid-air. Their ship meets them halfway in the sky as Godspeed had made it float towards them too. A barnacle had stuck itself on the side of the ship, and Akira karate chops it off while laughing his butt off.

After making their way up on the ship, Akira stands in front and admires his newfound collection. Doji goes over to him and puts his hands on his right shoulder. "Ehm, captain. Please don't use this on something stupid like those gallons of clam oil we have under the deck." Akira turns around after hearing this and takes Doji's hand off his shoulder. His face is that of disgust. "What did you just say. That oil is essential in keeping my skin smooth as a baby." He says before breaking his face and smiles, putting his arm around Doji. Godspeed comes and puts both of his hands on each of the two's shoulders as they admire their new collection.

Introduction Towards Rosary Pea.

The merry crew of Sun Wukong had been sailing for quite some time after a Message From the Past, they had gotten to know each other over the coming weeks of sailing. The crew hadn't seen land ever since they left that island, rolling in treasure and forgotten knowledge, they would spend the time training amongst each other. One morning, as the sun rose once again, the sword of Shuten Doji could be her clashing for miles on end. His 782 attempts to best Godspeed would near its end as Godspeed casually parried his blade with his palm.

Akira would wake up from the sounds of their battle, coming up from below to Shuten Doji sweating. "You guys are still fighting..." his open thoughts would be stopped with a brief yawn. "Go get some sleep, man!" he would say before making his way towards a barrel, placing himself on top of it and observing their fight. Shuten Doji jumps back, his heavy breath roaring throughout the nearby sea. "Beating him is a must, captain!" he would say before jumping back in and striking Godspeed with his blade, being returned with a dodge and a blow towards his stomach. As the punch connected, he would be sent back by the sheer force of the impact. "I cannot become the strongest if I cannot beat a simple man. I made a promise to you, captain. To become the strongest and be there by your side as you become the freest man alive!"

Akira would laugh, as he fell down the barrel in a bundle of tears. Both Godspeed and Shoten Doji would look over with confusion, as their captain would rest himself back up and lean against the edge of their ship. "I'm sorry, that one got me," he would say, before being interrupted by Shuten Doji. "I mean it, captain! I will become the strongest!" But Akira would look up, swaying the tears off his face and look dead in the eyes of Shuten Doji. "I do not seek the strongest, I seek those who wise to be free," Akira would say, making his way over to Shuten Doji and placing his hand on his shoulder. "I admire your determination, it's pretty cool." Akira would smile and giggle, "But, a promise is a promise, so you better become the strongest," saying it as he turned around and once again made his way over to the barrel, looking back with a big grin. "Hmph, yes captain!"

As Akira's gaze turned towards the sea once more, his eyes spotted an island. "Hey, guys!" he once again looked back and pointed over towards the horizon, "Come and take a look, I think we found land," saying it with a sense of confusion. The other two would make their way over to Akira, standing on each side of him. "That looks like a plant," Akira would say, returning with, "Do you think there will be any strong opponents to fight." Looking over at Shuten Doji. "Hmph, I sure hope so," he would say while clenching his blade. "Alright," Akira says, turning around towards Godspeed. "Full speed ahead!"
