The Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Ao Guang is a Mythical Zoan-type Devil Fruit that allows the user to transform into a hybrid ao guang and full ao guang at will, making them a Ao Guang Human (アオ グアング人間 Ao Guang Ningen?). It was eaten by Yi sun-sin.
Etymology[]
- Ryū (竜?) is Japanese for "dragon" and can be found in the Japanese term for "dinosaur", kyōryū (恐竜?).
- In the Viz Manga and FUNimation subs, it is called the Dragon-Dragon Fruit, Ao Guang Model.
Appearance[]
Strengths[]
This fruit enables the user to turn into a giant, serpentine, green-scaled dragon—specifically a type of Eastern dragon (龍 Ryū?) called the "Ao Guang"—and into a human-dragon hybrid. Apart from the incredibly hard scales, the user acquires dragon features including horns, extremely sharp fangs, limbs with clawed hands and feet. In his full Beast form, Yi grows to rival a medium town in size, making this one of the largest yet-seen Zoan transformation. Yi’s Human-Beast Form, while nowhere near as colossal, is still very large and, in shape, comes closer to his Human Form, with scales on his arms, outer torso, back, and legs as well as four horns on his head, claws on the hands and feet, and a long tail.
Apart from raw strength, Yi’s size as a dragon belies his mobility, as he can move about at incredible speeds while keeping pace with significantly fast, human-sized foes.
The scales covering Yi’s dragon body are noted to be extremely durable. Blows of incredible power, including ones strengthened by regular Busoshoku Haki, have proven utterly ineffective. Nonetheless, as with Yi’s extremely tough human skin, his dragon scales can be penetrated, and blood drawn from him, using attacks that bypass external defenses, like advanced-grade Busoshoku Haki.
Mythical Ability[]
Like all Mythical Zoan, this Ryu Ryu no Mi gives the user acess to a special ability, which Yi adresses as Hydrogel ( ヒドロゲル Hidorogeru?).
Yi is capable of mass-producing and manipulating a water-like liquid. It shares the same properties as water, but does not carry the same applications that say for example sea-water does. A devil fruit user is able to swim in this water, as it doesn't carry the hate the sea-water carries for those with powers. In fact, this liquid could be compared more to sweat than water, as it comes from the pores of the users body.
Along with being able to produce this liquid, Yi can always manipulate it as he pleases, allowing for techniques similar to Fish-Man Karate.
The liquid is usually pitted against other living beings, as can used a device to drown or crush others with the pressure it carries. The sensation it gives off is very similar to water, leaving those who it touches with a wet feeling. Materials would have to be drained and left out to dry after being splashed with this substance.
When affecting the environment, it can used to hydrate plant-life and such, but it is only a temporary substitute for real water.
This liquid is a victim to conductivity, therefore lightning can travel through it and electrify objects.
