Rocks D. Sage was a notorious pirate from roughly 60 years before the current storyline. He was the Captain of the Sage Pirates, and known as the Great Sage Fist due to him being the greatest martial artist in the world. He possessed the Gura Gura no Mi, a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit which allowed him to create Earthquakes. In addition to the Martial Arts and the Gura Gura no Mi, he also possessed all three forms of Haki, Observation, Armament, and Conqueror's. He was the father of Rocks D. Xebec, who would later inherit the Gura Gura no Mi, and also form the Rocks Pirates. Sage was born on Elbaf, and had a very strong relationship with the Giants. During his final querst as a pirate, he was killed by his longtime rival Davy Jones, who, using the Mera Mera no Mi, boiled him alive from the inside.
