Musashi (武 , own, possess, storehouse^?) is the captain of the Rōshigumi Pirates and the son of the Yonko, Esposito Dante. While unaware of his father's position as an emperor of the sea, Musashi aims to become the king of the pirates, a greater pirate than his father.

Appearance

Musashi is a young man with auburn hair and golden-brown coloured eyes (eyes which match his father's) of slightly taller than average height. He wears a gauntlet which is worn on his left arm, traveling from his hand to shoulder, a family heirloom left behind by his mother. A white cloak which has a beautiful water color flower aesthetic to it on the inside. He also wears a large leather holster which holds knives he uses as either projectile or hand held weapons. Finally he wears jet black sandals and heavily weighted metal leg guards as well.

Personality

Musashi's free spirit on full display

Musashi is an ambitious, strong willed young man. He lives and breaths an aura of living happily and freely always sticking close to his ideals. An example of this was when he was having a fight with (his now first mate) Sōji who slipped and Musashi extended his hand out to help his then enemy off the floor, fully letting himself get stabbed in the abdomen, believing it would be cowardly to strike an opponent down in such a way. Usually seen smiling and very cheerful most of the time.

Musash is very fond of fighting and has a tendency to pick fights for petty reasons. This love for combat stems from his mother saying how much he looked and vividly resembled his father whenever he fought or trained. Despite being terminally ill, this brought her peace as he not just reminded her of Dante but because of how happy he seemed. He's been seen fighting others for spilling his sake or for something more serious such as fighting bandits who were harming innocent people. He's extremely competitive, and will take on any and all challengers.This could be anything from fighting to a drinking contest. As competitive as he is, Musashi accepts his losses without debating it.

He is a very firm believer of actions speaking much louder than works or titles. For him another person's willpower, individuality and strength are what speak to him and has very little patience for those who rely solely on words. He would rather die fighting than be on his knees pleading for mercy. Musashi especially hold respect for those who he sees as a skilled opponent, those who live by their ideals, and most importantly those who say true themselves. Because of this though he truly cannot stand those who go against their word or betray a comrade of any kind.

Despite all these traits both good and bad, Musashi lives his life as open and free he wants very much cheerful and openhearted. He deeply cares for others, seen when he admits the only reason he never attempted to leave Wano sooner was because he was worried about leaving his ill mother alone. For him his friends and family are his world and deeply cares for the entirety of his crew. While he's not the brightest by most means, Musashi is more than capable of telling when something deserves his full attention and is happy to get rough with people.

He has a big weakness for alcohol, almost always carrying around a sake gourd with him. He's been known as a sucker for money and weak against free food (especially meat buns). Musashi also really likes to be depended on by others (especially girls) and loves to be praised for his hard work.

Musashi's personality is greatly reflected in his fighting style and actions, speaking at an incredibly loud volume with only his actions. In order to reach the moments that Musashi fights for, he goes off of his instincts and desires, not really holding back when his goals are within his grasp. He's rather stubborn, almost like a dog when having his jaw locked on a bone, he's hard to read which makes working with him a large task to take up at times. But it's this personality and expression of himself that causes those on his crew to follow, it's this genuine presence and simplicity in his actions that generates an undying loyalty. This is because they all know full well that "he is not perfect", that they know he'll make mistakes and be wrong at times but yet they tell him to remain himself, give it his all and never stop being and leading as himself.

Musashi's love for adventures and his life on the seas are what caused him to suddenly grow and become someone "more himself" than ever before. It was dealing with the seas that unlocked his "paradise", the place where he could finally feel like himself completely, no longer blunt to the laws of Wano, the traditions of his home country of Wano. Musashi's growth came with the price of abandoning his home island, something which can be seen as equally immature (for the reasons of chasing his dreams at his young age) as it was inspirational, not allowing the unknown world be what keeps him from experiencing his life.

Relationships

• Flamma Coneja:Upon first meeting, Neja simply challenged Musashi because of what she had heard from his pirate career and the news. Her obsession with power led her to challenge him to a duel, with him deciding not to use his swords, using the opportunity to train in Devastante. Despite their battle being so physical, Neja was able to keep pace with Musashi, avoiding many decisive blows and delivering large waves of combos against him. In this battle, Caelus commented that despite the difference in skill of their respective martial arts was key to it all. Musashi was still fresh with only a few months worth of training into it, while Coneja was clearly more seasoned with years of training of her own. Though Musashi did prove his power and to have the superior strength as he landed a single heavy strike, slamming her to the ground with an intense right fist. After being beaten, she had grown infatuated with the idea of beating him, to see what kind of a monster he could become, almost as if it were a primal urge to an alpha. She would ask to join the crew, being assigned many different tasks. Musashi mentions she is one that he trusts dearly, even assigning her to protect Beau E. Elke, his partner.

• Vento Caelus: When the two had met, Musashi was blown away by the intellect the jet black haired young man had, with Caelus knowing his name and feats he had accomplished. Musashi, being flabbergasted, asked him to join the crew. While it did take some convincing and the two worked together to save a small village, the two decided to allow their fighting to make the choice. Caelus used his devil fruit to keep the immediate distance between the two, observing Musashi’s techniques and movements, with him mentioning Musashi’s capability to grow and constantly change his patterns and tactics is what made him truly dangerous. Eventually Musashi found the opening needed, landing a powerful and decisive blow. Though while their relationship was rather unorthodox, slowly they began to meld together rather fluidly. What Musashi lacked was intelligence of the world as a whole, having spent most of his life in Wano and being locked away from the news, history, customs, culture of the world outside of his home, all of which Caelus had a bountiful amount of. They complimented one another, with Musashi having the natural charisma and strength where Caelus had the intellect and power to cover for the faults of Musashi’s. The duo had been recognized as the most dangerous team within the pirate crew, with even the first mate, Soji, mentions that Caelus is the second strongest in the crew. The two even train together rather often when the ship is docked, Caelus using it as a method to train his physical body where Musashi uses it to not think linearly.

• Susumu Ahma: Ahma and Musashi share a strong bond, with Ahma being the first member of the crew to dedicate herself as one of musashi's retainers. This was due to the unconventional way of their meeting, with Ahma being hired from a yakuza to spy on Musashi and find any weakness they could exploit as a way to get pay back for him leveling their base of operations. As when she found an opening and took it, doing her absolute best to end him, Musashi, unnaturally jumped into combat, waking up only to block her attack and then fighting. He’d beat her down to the point her forehead was dripping with blood, her vision getting blurry and unstable, only to have him point a sword at her throat before taking a step back and sitting down, allowing her to rest. After managing to escape she would terminate her contract with the yakuza and seeked out musashi, begging him to take her in as a disciple despite him not knowing ninjutsu, wishing to dedicate herself to whatever aspiration he had. She would end up being key to his escape of Wano, though with the sacrifice of her well being, taking massive injuries to all four limbs. Musashi being as dedicated to those around him that he is, managed to find someone to assist her, saving her life with the help of cybernetics. This would be the first instance of Musashi’s dedication to his men, the empathy he feels for them even if their first encounter was less than ideal. Currently, Ahma is often called the arm of her captain, being “nothing more but an extension” of her lord.

Abilities & Powers

Physical Prowess

Musashi's incredible strength

Musashi since his early years has constantly displayed incredible feats of strength such as drawing and swinging a sword while still under a year old or catching and wrestling down well trained hunting dogs at the age of two. He's displayed strength capable of matching and overwhelming skilled samurai and pirates much older than himself. Perform workouts such as doing vertical push ups while carrying a large boulder and Sōji on his feet. The psychical strength needed to not just punch a highly trained ninja but also devastate his face, knocking blood and teeth out, sending the ninja flying many feet away.

While not usually displayed, Musashi has great speed and agility to match this strength as he's been seen ducking, dodging and weaving around enemies attacks. His training used to consist of him running up and down a mountain at least once a day. This used to take around twelve hours, but this quickly shortened down to three hours, before he began to wear weighted clothing to enhance his training.

Upon leaving Wano the Ronin has been out into many situations that pushed and proved his claims of being a powerhouse to be truthful. Musashi has been seen picking up a fully collapsed building only to drop it upon an enemy before him. on many other occasions his strength had been shown to be as monstrous as seen upon his battle against Himawari. Alongside Akira a fellow super rookie the two were able to pull off blows against the Monster of a warlord. While at first Musashi was unable to counter or deal any real damage against the Vampire. After drinking some sake and taking a moment to pause, clearing out his mind, allowing his body to relax before his, it allowed the young man to use his fullest strength at the time. Musashi at this point was able to launch attacks and blow that the arrogant warlord needed to block and dodge or even counter instead of taking them head on.

Busoshoku Haki

Musashi, from a fairly early age, unlocked the use of Busoshoku Haki at roughly the age of five. This was caused by his indomitable will of always striving to become stronger, growing to levels greater than he already had, most importantly the will to protect and care for his mother. Through and through this branch had became his main expertise in haki, mastering the ability to coat himself and his swords with a layer of Busoshoku Haki, going as far as learning to imbued it into a flying slash attack capable of leaving a large cut on Elio Alessandro’s chest. By adding this layer of haki to his swords Musashi increases his striking power along with the sharpness of the blades, able to slice through dozens of swords when in battle as cleanly as paper. Musashi has also been seen using his haki to increase the durability and defensive qualities, seen when coating both his arms and keeping a Seaking’s jaw open, taking hold by it’s razor sharp teeth.

Kenbunshoku Haki

Musasi learned this branch of haki later in his training with the Sword Saints, in the intensive spiritual and personal training they put him through would quickly draw his latent potential out. Down the line he would simply name this branch of haki “warriors Spirit”, learning to perceive the movements of his enemies to a degree that it had become supernatural. He was able to take in small movements or noticeable changes in their mannerisms. This was key to maximizing his potential of growth and analyzing his enemies and environment. Even though it isn’t his natural specialty, Musashi has demonstrated having the capabilities to keep up with others such as Elio Leonardo who is someone that has demonstrated having a great affinity with the branch.

Equipment

• Moeru Ha:Moeru Ha is a legendary sword wielded by the rookie pirate/samurai from Wano, Musashi. It is also one of the seven treasures of Akiko Nobunaga, being one of his last works before his death. Being one of the treasures of Nobunaga the sword itself is incredibly sharp, capable of slicing through massive oak trees and rocks four times the size of the sword. Just like the rest of the seven treasures, one must be extremely careful when cleaning and maintaining the sword as a misstep could easily cut them a finger off. Though, like the rest of the swords, Moeru Ha has another reason to be careful with. Just like the rest of the treasures, this sword has a unique ability, this one being Heat Emission. Once drawn from its scabbard and in the hands of its owner, the blade will begin to emit heat. This heat will steadily grow from a minor inconvenience to becoming unbearably hot, capable of melting iron and steel.
• Totsuka:A sword known for being over four hundred years old and famous, as it is one of the Saijō Ō Wazamono swords. It is incredibly durable, being capable of withstanding clashes against countless swords, slicing through walls made of steel, buildings and even massive clubs made of Kijin bones. In fact when over eight lesser swords clashed against it at full power they shattered as Totsuka remained unharmed, not even scratched. Along with that the sword has eaten a mythical zoan devil fruit, the Rei Rei no Mi, Model: Shinigami which gave life to the sword. The sword itself is known for going through masters with its latest ones being Himawari and Musashi. Though unlike most who either were overpowered by the sword or dominated the sword some way or the other, Musashi and the blade had formed an odd connection with the sword bowing its head to Musashi. Though because of their unity the sword assists him by transferring some of its immense reserves of Soul Power to increase Musashi’s capabilities. Along with that, the sword is also able to channel the chilling air of the underworld to freeze targets upon contact, even able to freeze wounds of enemies after delivering deep slices.

Swordsmanship

Overall Abilities:Musashi through and through had an absolute natural talent when it comes down to swordsmanship, having a natural affinity for it even more so than most he's met in his adventures in Wano Country. He was tremendously powerful as a swordsman from an early age, as a child he was able to easily best full grown adults who were rather proficient practitioners, consistently winning match after much. Even when facing swordsmen who are above his own league, many tend to comment that his hunger in swordsmanship is frightening, when after defeating him they can't help but compliment his skill and raw talent.

Despite famously building his career and reputation by using only one sword, even building most of his skill set originally around using only one sword, yet we have seen he is quite adapted at using multiple swords. He's so adept that after obtaining his second sword, he had seemingly adapted it into his swordsmanship rather naturally. He's so adept at using multiple swords, when facing a group of swordsmen attempted to attack him, Musashi could easily take swords from out do their hands and stab it into someone else before quickly beheading someone.

Mayonaka no taiyō (真夜中の太陽, Midnight Sun^?): Musashi's swordsmanship is an odd and rare case as it is one he developed himself by taking what was taught to him since early childhood and his natural athletic ability to form what he calls his Mayonaka no taiyō (真夜中の太陽, Midnight Sun^?). Musashi has developed this style mostly around adaptation, agility and constant attack as he took the man basic teachings swords saints and his mother had to teach and added his own natural agility and power. Instead of focusing on purely slicing an enemy down, Musashi is more than capable of adding his natural brawling like fighting syle with kicks and punches appearing as well. Balancing both martial art and swordsmanship. He (much like his father) has a knack of learning things very quickly, once he sees his opponent doing a move he will try to incorporate it to his fighting style.

Techniques

• 

  Ittoryu: Inseguendo Drago: A technique originally developed by his father, Esposito Dante, which has been greatly modified for Musashi's use. During a battle Musashi begins to constantly swipe and attack an enemy and while most enemies believe he's simply applying pressure in a fight, in reality he's building a wind current which slowly begins to take shape. He then spinswith his sword point out, The current becomes a light blue color of swirling energy as the lead of the current took the shape of a raging dragon and the current around Musashi coils around his body. The dragon then lunges and attacks Musashi's targets this technique is capable of shredding, stone, iron, even forcefully expand an already existing cave,

• Ittoryu: Chariot:A technique Musashi had mimicked from pinocchio’s own sword techniques just before his encounter with the ex warlord Himawara. It takes a more fencing style of battle, focusing more on powerful sword stabs at repetition. Despite it being very different from his usual swordsmanship style, Musashi was able to adjust for his katana’s added weight and very different shape to make the technique work. When used against the warlord, she was able feel the familiarity from it. Also while the technique was still new, Musashi was able to adapt to the changes throw from a target dodging the attack, by following it up with a swift dash forward and a precise strike at the foe. After refining the technique, Musashi was able to send a stab through a brick wall and cleanly landing blow on his target without needing to attack any more of the wall.

• ’’’White Album’’’: This technique is one possible thanks to the powers granted to Musashi by Totsuka, as the sword itself is able to use the soul energy to “pull the winds” of the underworld to grant him a freezing ability. For example he can pass this freezing aura through Totsuka to freeze enemies after attacking them. Musashi has refined this skill after training with Totsuka to attack enemies, freeze his surroundings to a small degree, along with making consecutive slashes against a watery surface such as a lake in order to make a walkway.
  • ’’’Ittoryu: Gently Weeps’’’: Musashi uses this technique to send projectile based attacks with his sword thrusts, transmuting the soul energy from Totsuka through the air to land on his enemies. For example in his bout against a sea king he was able to send two bursts of soul energy to freeze the beast's eyes shut. While not inherently made to blind an enemy it did provide Musashi with a secondary effect to his limited range capabilities.

• • ’’’Ittoryu: Nature’s Son’’’: Musashi raises Totsuka upward in a defensive stance in order to brace himself for an oncoming attack, he does this to block an attack, freezing anything it touches. He did this when being attacked by the aforementioned sea king in order to freeze it’s tail and cause it discomfort to pull away. When training with Neja, he was able to freeze her attacking leg upon contact and strip a lot of her legs momentum due to how cold the blade and the air surrounding musashi can get.

• • ’’’Ittoryu: Horus’’’: a cross technique, being developed by Musashi after fusing the raw concepts of Totsuka’s ‘’’White Album’’’ skill and his already existing Ittoryu: Inseguendo Drago technique to create a dragon like attack made of the freezing air of Totsuka’s soul energy. This technique not only freezes a much wider range, as the original technique alone was able to stretch through an entire cave, thus meaning the freezing effect would as well, but it is then followed up by the shredding air effect the technique already had. This means Musashi is able to freeze enemies into place before the attack delivers numerous cuts all throughout their body.

History

Early Life

Musashi was born a single child to (still haven't made the mother's name yet) and Esposito Dante. When (mother's name) was pregnant with Musashi, Dante had begun his three years of dedicated training, unable to interact with others and separated away from everyone. Musashi was born later that year and later down the road at only nine months old was already able to draw a sword from its scabbard (both hands need on the hilt) and swing. On the day of his birthday, Musashi was able to chase down a well trained hunting dog and jump on it's back.

At Four years old he was already swinging hit mother's katana and chopping down trees. When he was seven Musashi was already picking fights in the street which lead to him picking fights with samurai who served the daimyo of Kuri at the age of nine. By the age of ten he began his training as a sword saint apprentice and was kicked out by the age of twelve for how he expressed only wanting to grow and become a pirate, not displaying care for living as a saint.

All of these events would have Musashi gain the title Kinoko (木の子, mountain-dwelling demon resembling a child^?).

Terminal Queen

Sadly at the age of thirteen, Musashi's mother (still working on the name) had given into her sickness as it overwhelmed her body. She was forced to retire from her job and her sword. Because of this Musashi would stop expressing how much he wanted to leave Wano as he didn't want to add any stress to her life. She would pass down to Musashi her a set of family heirlooms; A white cloak with a flower pattern on the inside, A red gauntlet, and the family sword; 'Hi no oni (火の鬼, Fire Demon^?) as she could no longer hold on to them.

Musashi, refusing to accept his mother's fate decided to look for a doctor's help. Unable to afford the doctor's services, Musashi went to the yakuza which ruled the Kuri region. He asked them for a loan to pay for his mother's doctors but was told that he would have to work for them. Despite how much he hated the idea, Musashi accepted the offer if it meant he could help his mother. He was an enforcer, made to pick up payments and enforce the Yakuza's tight grip on the people.

This went on for years, slowly making the boy much colder as he sacrificed a lot of his 'innocence' to complete the jobs given to him. It wasn't until he was sixteen did this all change as an opportunity presented itself, as he broke into and killed prominent members of the family he worked for to steal a small fortune from them. This would lead to the Yakuza wanting revenge, so while Musashi was on his way to hand the fortune over to the doctor for more treatment, the Yakuza set the small house a blaze. This would end up killing his mother in the process as she died sick, alone and in a house of burning flames.

Ronin of Kuri

After returning home to see his house now a blaze, offered one last prayer for his mother as he watched the house cave in on itself. He then saw somewhat fresh foot prints all over the burnt down house, figuring out that it wasn't some accident he or his mother caused, instead someone came and killed her. So from then on he swore to set out to sea, the one thing he always dreamed of and the something his mother always wanted for him. But first he decided to go out and find the men responsible.

Spending the next year traveling all over Kuri, gaining info and talking to people to try and find the specific men that were responsible for the fire. This would lead to him picking countless fights against people, just about anyone who was willing to fight if they had any type of information that could've been of use to him. Because of this though it forced the men responsible behind the fire fled the Kuri region. So Musashi decided that Kuri no longer was the home it once was.

Recent Events

Battle of Ohara

During these events Musashi and the crew had ventured out to the island of Ohara, an island famous for their scholars and the wealth information they have gathered, especially in terms of their understanding of the world and it's history. While on the island the crew and Musashi himself even, gave up their weapons to the authorities as to obey the island's stand against violence, something that was rather refreshing to the group of pirates.

Musashi during his time there couldn't help but ask question upon question, being blown away by just hoe much the people of the island truly knew, and his natural curiosity was being satiated. He even got along with the elder of the island, he was so well liked that he was even invited to enter the island's monument to their knowledge and intelligence, their tree of knowledge, their breathtakingly large library found in a hollowed out giant tree.

It would unfortunately be that at this time that the Marines were initiating their massive attack on the island, the bombardment of countless canon balls, the suffering of an entire nation, of an entire civilization, the method used to erase others, a Buster Call. It was at this moment, this event, the shook both Musashi and the island itself, as a hail of unforgiving canon fire landed on the island, wrecking complete havoc.

Musashi, being the capable captain he is quickly engaged and evaluated the situation. Rushing to his crew as they gather up their weapons, he gave the order to protect as many islanders as possible. Musashi would go from person to person, leaping and running around, intercepting each canon ball before it landed against a random civilian. He would then escort people to evacuation ships in order to help them best to survive.

Welcome to the Magic Kingdom!

Together with the help of the Shichibukai Shinzui, the three rookies Jiyuu, Musashi, and Akira managed to defeat one of the seven warlords, but with the death of one of them. Unbeknownst to them, Himawari was revealed to be the daughter of Kiwashi as he attempted to stop the three in their rampage.

Swordsmen are a Kitchen's Nightmare

It had been only a day or two since the climactic, bloody battle that had came at the illegal island known to the world as "Wonderland". In the events, Musashi had received major damage all through his body, put into an exhausted, beaten state as a result of the battle and cause of death against the then warlord, Himawari. Though unfortunately, the crew were low on resources, needing to use the last bit of their food and medicine to care for their captain. Musashi's role as a captain was seen in flying colors here as he realized the crew placed his well being ahead of their own by giving him their rations. He ordered them to board the baratie so they could all fill their stomachs up and regain their strength. Though trouble would quickly break out as a pair of sea kings, a child and its mother, decide to cause trouble. Despite narrowly escaping death not a few days prior, Musashi leapt into action, bringing the beasts down and supplying themselves and the restaurant with a large supply of meat. Though he would also with his charisma was able to win over the crews new cook, Hestia.

Trivia

• pretty much wanted to make this guy the FC version of Oden
