Fermi also has given Megapunk a strange request while in the midst of Nitro being repaired. | ||

The Upgrade[]
At Marineford, each of the Marines can be seen working hard as usual. However, in the office of Admiral Fermi, the always working admiral can be seen pacing back and forth with his student, Angrboda Nitroni, was seen sitting down watching him do so. Though he had a rather grim look on his face after letting out a sigh as he looked at his arm that was missing.
"It's no matter now. What's done is done. I am not happy about it but I guess that is what life is. But the fact a pirate was responsible for the demotion of a Vice Admiral is asinine!" Fermi said angrily.
"...Yeah I did messed up there. Sorry Fermi." Nitro said as it was the only thing he can say at the moment.
"Like I said, what's done is done. That pirate must have cheated his way to victory. That's all what pirates do: Take the easy way out. It's no matter, I had to call Megapunk over to Marineford to get you a replacement. It actually kills two birds with one stone as I have a request of him as well. Something that I had wanted to do for awhile." Fermi said as he opened his palm revealing a strange looking device on it.
"What is that sir? I haven't seen that before." Nitro asked looking at it.
"It will be explained once he gets here. It should be shortly as he should know I don't like to be kept waiting. He should have a lab that he will be taking us to." Fermi said.
Entering Marineford with a suitcase and marines as escorts, the Head Scientist Dr. Megapunk Emil of the Marines was coming from his homeland to see the important request he was given from the Admiral Fermi himself. Megapunk keeps a solemn look as he was seen walking, not a confident look neither a grim face he was. Some people say that face is the expression from his robots that he has made all of his years. He was walking right in between some of his famous creations for the Marine force, Marine Cyborgs Robo-Marine and Robo-Marine 2.
Megapunk makes it to the front office as he entered the HQ building. The women sees Megapunk and welcomes the Head Scientist.
"Hello Doctor." The desk lady states, "How may we help you?"
"I have a meeting with Admiral Fermi." Megapunk states as he looks at his watch, "Please let the Admiral know I am on my way to his office." He says as he walks over to the elevator that would take him to the level where Fermi's office is.
"Sounds good." The desk lady says before clicking onto a den den mushi which would call the Admiral, "Admiral Fermi. Dr. Megapunk is on his way to your office shortly."
"Good. We will be awaiting his arrival." Fermi said as he hung up the snail.
"What are you planning on doing if I can ask?" Nitro asked.
"Things. A lot of things. That is all I am saying for now. I'll explain more when he gets here." Fermi said as he took a seat.
Megapunk arrives at the door of Fermi's office. He has Robo Marine 1 and 2 stay and guard the door as he opens the door for himself and enters into the office. He approaches the towering Admiral Fermi as he himself is barely 6 feet. But the size didn't matter as he wasn't intimidated by the presence of the marine. Rather a smile comes to his face as he bows to the admiral and speaks, "Hello Fermi, it has been a minute since we've last seen each other. How may I help you today?"
"So that's Megapunk. I thought he'd look a bit more.."flashy" in a sense." Nitro thought to himself as he was looking over at Megapunk.
"Indeed. It has. Though, this isn't the time to remanence as I have two favors to ask of you. One, most importantly." Fermi said as he points over to Nitro and his missing arm. "A distasteful pirate had the nerve to sever the arm of my top student there. I would like for you to rebuild an artificial one in it's place. Something to help him combat with his Devil Fruit powers as well. Him simply replacing it with an arm made of crystals won't be good enough. I feel this is also a good opportunity to enhance his abilities a bit. That is the first of my two favors." Fermi stated.
"Hmmmmm." Megapunk brushes his shaggy hair over his eyebrows so he can look over to Nitro. He looks at the missing arm of Nitro and motions Nitro to come over, "Come over and let me see your wound. Also your arm if you have that at all."
"I do sir." Nitro said as he walks over as he then presents Megapunk with his arm that was kept incase in crystal.
"It's still a shame how a pirate was able to do that to you. As soon I heard he got demoted because of that, I half near nuked Marineford itself." Fermi said in a stern tone.
"Good thing you didn't, cause then I couldn't have fixed your student here in Marineford." Megapunk says as he places a rubber glove in his hand and touches the wound. He pulls out what would be left of the left arm bone and studies it. He notices how smooth the cut was, though it had a sharp edge at the tip of the bone that broke. "Hmmmmm, seems like a relatively clean cut from what it did. Impressive that is was able to cut through the bone of a logia user."
"He was quite proficient in Haki...and his sword felt unnatural to me for some reason." Nitro added.
"Hmph. A damn pirate shouldn't be able to just cleanly cut an arm of a proud Marine such as himself. The one that did this will meet his end by my hands. That is assured." Fermi stated as he continued on. "But from that response, I am assuming this is possible?"
"It will be possible." Megapunk responds, "Just give me at the most 3 days to get something going. Also, I will need to remove his clavicle and shoulder blade for this to work. So it will be done surgically." He says as the door slammed open as Robo-Marine 1 and 2 were gripping a woman.
"L-let go of me you creeps!" The Rear Admiral, Crystal Hailee, shouts as she was being held by the cyborgs. "I just wanted to see my boyfriend!"
"Who is this woman?" Megapunk looks at Hailee with a solemn look.
Fermi just looks at Nitro with the biggest deadpan look he ever gave. "Nitro."
"S-Sir! It's not my fault! It's not like I knew she would barge in on here..." Nitro said with a shrug.
"That's just rear admiral Crystal Hailee. She's...allowed she knows Nitro." Fermi said with a slight cough of his voice.
"You can let her go." Megapunk says to the cyborg marines, "She's a friend." He smiles as they comically drop the woman onto the ground.
"And who the hell are you?" Hailee says getting up, dusting herself off, and looking down at the shorter Megapunk compared to the 6 foot tall Hailee.
"You probably want to show more respect toward the Marine's head scientist Dr. Megapunk." Nitro said to Hailee.
"Indeed. The higher ups that may hear any disrespect shown towards him may be met with some...resistance." Fermi said as a warning.
"It's alright Admiral." Megapunk says while smiling and offering a handshake, "Dr. Megapunk Emil, I am the Marine's head scientist like he said."
"So you're the head scientist?" Hailee says thinking for a moment then shaking his hand, "I thought you'd be taller by the stories."
"Not many people often meet me, so it'd understandable." He warmly smiles.
"So what is he doing here?" Hailee asks as she then walks over to Nitro.
"Well, he is trying to. Ahem. Get my arm fixed in a sense." Nitro said as he showed her his missing arm.
"It's still a shame that this happened. Of course I wouldn't let the entire Marines know of what happened." Fermi stated.
"Don't worry." Megapunk says, "I have thought of an arm already. It'll basically take the structure of an arm and its uses, but it will hopefully amplify the logia in him as the crystals should cover the robotic structure once placed."
"He getting surgery?" Hailee asks as she sat next to Nitro and placed her left arm over Nitro.
"He'll have to have his clavicle and shoulder blade removed." Megapunk answers, "But it shouldn't be a worry as I will be making that as well as the arm itself."
"That bad huh? A shame, but it is what it is. The second favor I have to ask of your is more of a private thing, especially after having to talk with a few individuals." Fermi said the last statement out loud.
"I am still curious about what you are planning sir." Nitro said also saying his statement out loud.
"Hmph. Don't worry about that. You need to prep yourself for this. It'll help you get stronger. I will be doing something on my own accord in the sense." Fermi said as he looked in his drawer and took out something he kept in his hand at the moment.
"Well then. I'm guessing that there is something for more private matters." Megapunk says mentioning about Fermi's request.
"Should we leave then?" Hailee asks.
"Could be recommended." Megapunk responds, "Just get your boyfriend ready for surgery in about 3 days."
"Right. I understand." Nitro said as he was about to head out.
"This shouldn't be too long, though what is about to be said must be heard by only a few." Fermi responded.
"Well don't worry, it looks like it just has to be my ear." Megapunk states as he watches Hailee and Nitro exit the office from the door. He then turns back to Fermi before then asking, "What's this other offer then?"
Fermi then puts the strange device on the table as he looks over at Megapunk. "I want to start by asking to construct a Raid Suit for myself and I want you to incorporate this device into it. If you are curious about this device, this is the Shifter component that belonged to Tricker Keaton. However, he met his end by the hands of an assassin turned pirate and his parts were left everywhere. Some scouts I had to access the damage in that area were able to retrieve these parts left behind and I've decided to have this be made into a Raid Suit so I have have the shapeshifting abilities that he possessed. However, there is a good reason for me wanting to do so." Fermi explained as he sat back down on his seat and looks off to the side. "I've fought against the late Donk E. Kong and his strength, despite being a pirate, was immense. It took practically all of the Marine's top forces together to take him down. He had power, and a lot of it. I can't be going down to a pirate like this, so I've decided to enlist in the assistance of Kagakusha Curie who owed me a favor in the past to help convert me into a full Mink. I know the Nobles would be against that, but this is what the Raid Suit will come in to help me change my forms freely so they won't have to notice too much. That is my request."
Megapunk looks at the component on the table and picks it up for himself. He looks at Fermi as he also looked at the part in his hand, "I have been intrigued by that cyborg even though I haven't built him myself. This is quite an interesting part they've originally came up with." He says thinking, "I'll need to look through the layout and the makeup of this part to do this."
"Indeed. Of course. I have heard that the former Underworld organization Enma had created that as a one-of-a-kind. I will say, I don't see why they didn't make any more. But I am not one to peer into the minds of criminals. They're over and done with that's all that matters. But I am getting off-topic, when you can just incorporate that into the Raid Suit. Something for everyday use in the sense." Fermi stated.
"It will take longer than Nitro's operation I'm afraid." Megapunk states, "This might take weeks since it's a different component than I am used to. But then again I pick things up quickly. So maybe expect it to be done between next week and next month."
"That is fine. I have the time to wait anyway as it will be difficult to contact Curie these days. Had to align with a pirate of all people. Not sure what Sigmund was thinking but what is done is done. Nitro's surgery comes first after all." Fermi said.
"Indeed my friend." Megapunk says looking at the component and placing it in his suitcase, "Would you want me to make more than one of these components? This part, if massively produced, could be something if sold to the correct people."
"Problem with that is you don't know what hands it could end up in. Someone could be your best friend for years only to have it be someone in disguise. For now, let's just keep it of limited use." Fermi stated.
"That is alright with me." Megapunk nods, as he clips up his suitcase, "Alright, I'll be in my laboratory if you need anything." He says as he starts heading for the door, "I'll be working on Nitro's new arm for now." He says as he opens the door and soon exits.
"Right." Fermi said as he took out his den den mushi to contact someone. "I'm going to be needing to meet with her soon in the meantime."
Meanwhile, Nitro and Hailee were together in an apartment as Hailee was seen ranting about her day in front of Nitro.
"And this guy dared to cut the line in front of me while I was trying to get my lunch." She was ranting off, "So I decided to use my superior ranking to kick him in where the sun don't shine and show him why you don't mess with a Rear Admiral!"
"Man you really do like to resort to violence to get your points through huh? I mean, yeah I can't be the one to judge but still." Nitro said as he was polishing his sword that was laying on the ground.
"Oh I just love torturing my enemies, that's all." She says as she was stirring a cup of orange juice, "Some days I miss being at Impel Down but then still I love it here!" She then looks over at Nitro's sword, "Can't really use that thing anymore huh?"
"I know. I just rather it not sit there and gather dust. You never know if I may need it for something." Nitro said as he stopped polishing it as he stood up. "Impel Down...the one that escaped from there...His son...No no can't be thinking too hard about that right now."
"Don't worry, you weren't the only one pissed when that happened." Hailee says, "Since I was raised there and my family is known for working in Impel Down, when I heard the news, I knew I had to responds immediately. I was one of the first responders to the incident, even though it was too late. However many people had escaped left with whoever caused it. The pirates Elio Leonardo and Thăng Long D. Yang were the major ones that escaped. Though it wasn't a week or two till it was revealed the White Fang escaped that prison as well." She states, "I may know why......." Her being aware of the unknown level 6 of Impel Down.
"I know of Level 6 as well, admiral Fermi gave me the run down of it. Plus, a relative of mine is the Vice Warden there. I know of those two rookies as well but I don't personally know of them. Though, I did heard that the one, Yang, has some connections to the one that cut off my arm in the first place. I may have to go after this Yang one day as well. But, one step at a time I guess." Nitro said as he looked at the window.
"What was his name again?" Hailee asks, "Dane??? What type of name is that? And also I heard his nickname is the Stone Fox? Ain't he a wolf mink though? This man has a strange name and nickname."
"It really doesn't matter. He is a violent individual that I must kill. He's not about to take my arm and thinks he can get away with it..." Nitro said with a small growl with his fangs showing a bit.
"Now now, let's not get your blood boiling." Hailee says as she rubs her hand into Nitro's blue hair, "Why not try to get yourself some good rest while you prepare for the surgery."
"I guess. All of that crazy stuff that Megapunk is going to do has me nervous a bit, but I've been through worse. I was just more curious on what he had in store for Fermi however. It's tough to tell on the outside but he seems a bit conflicted lately." Nitro said as he walked over to his bed and sat on it.
"Well that Admiral is hard to read usually." Hailee responds as she takes off her cap and places it on the hatrack by the door.
"Yeah. Hang around him enough and you'll get used to it." Nitro said as he was laying down. "Ugh. I'm still not used to this though. Laying in bed in one arm I mean. I felt like I gotten used to it already, but I didn't."
Hailee then unbuttons her shirt and takes it off before crawling up on top of Nitro, "You're used to me though right?" She says as she has her fingers "walk" up Nitro's right arm.
"Of course though I am surprised you're used to me missing a whole arm. I know that is quite..."jarring" to look at in the sense." Nitro asked.
"Meh, not like I've tortured pirates to the point where they've lost their limbs." She shrugs a bit as she was still laying on top of Nitro, "Though you're the only person I've met who I do have compassion and love for." She then kisses Nitro on the head. "Well besides my rival Jakuchō, though that's a more friendly thing. But you get my point."
"Heh that's a fair point I take it. I honestly don't have too many myself I can call that. Back around when he was bringing pirates to the Marines for a quick buck, Masamune was someone that is quite strong I've faced. I don't know why but I always felt like our "auras" are the same in a sense. Nonetheless, he's pretty much aligned with one of those strong pirate groups now. It's a shame, I always said his powers are useful for Cipher Pol. I know I try to look out for Casper, but he often gets too scared of me for some reason." Nitro said.
"Oh yeah I remember that guy." Hailee says, "He's a pretty strong guy, I can respect it. Up until when I can catch him and torture him!" She laughs, "Oh but for now, I'll just be in love with you." She puts her head down on Nitro's chest.
"Heh I know you always liked to torture especially after hearing from what Baetylus often said. You know, I never knew why you wanted to leave Impel Down. Though one side I can understand since you have more freedom as being part of the main branch of the Marines." Nitro said as he rubbed her head.
"That and I didn't feel like torturing helpless people for a living." Hailee responds, "I mean I loved guarding the frozen hell with the wolves. Hell I quite almost lived with them hungry beasts since they loved me like a mother. But I was bored of the torturing helpless, so I was like "Why not fight pirates and torture them after?" So I was like why not."
"I can feel that. I remember they tried to have me assigned to Cipher Pol for a short while since my powers are useful for capturing and restraining. However, Fermi said I was better suited for the main forces of the Marines and I was transferred over here. That's saying something considering how Cipher Pol mainly 0 serves directly under the Nobles. I never met a Cipher Pol 0 agent myself with Echo being the closest since she was a candidate. But yeah, the Marines do get a lot more of the blunt work which is fine by me." Nitro explained.
"Same here." Hailee sighs, "But let's not worry about anything else anymore. Let's just relax...between you and me." She says as she delivers a kiss to Nitro.
"Heh I bet especially before this surgery I could use all of the free time with us." Nitro said as he kissed her back.
The two spend their evening together as Megapunk was on the other side of Marineford, working on Nitro's prosthetic arm.
3 Days Later
"Alright." Megapunk says as he, Nitro, and Hailee were down in the laboratory of the Great Dr. Megapunk. Megapunk was seen showing Nitro his new arm. It consisted of mostly a silver exterior look made out of a light metal material as well as a purplish blue spots that are marked into the arm. "This'll be your new arm. Now yeah it looks like a steel robot arm, but trust me. I made it come with different options! You can turn the thing green, blue, purple, black, heck any color of the rainbow, but you can also adjust it where it matches your skin." He states, "Now the main contraption of this is that once the arm is placed in you, the logia devil fruit will be rushed toward the hollow inside of this arm. Which with all of these wires, armor, and your devil fruit ability, your arm will be much more tough to break. I can say that this arm may be able to handle meito graded weapons too!"
"Wow. That is pretty amazing I will have to say. Never I would thought to been rather excited to have an arm taken from me. Fermi wasn't kidding when even he often praised your talents." Nitro said as he was looking with amazement.
"Trust me kid. when the World Government, or any marine sees talent, they will bless you and give you a career out of it." He states, "I don't know if I'll be here if it wasn't for those that saw me over 25 years ago when I started working here." He then pulls out a metallic shoulder blade and clavicle bone, "These'll be the replacement bones to help support the arm better. This procedure should take.......at the most 2 hours."
"Two hours?" Hailee asks, "How is it that short?"
"Easy." Megapunk says as on his back four robotic looking arms come out of him that surround the scientist. "I have some assistants." He smiles.
"You're definitely prepared. It's a good trait to have alright. That's probably a reason why Fermi respects you so much. You get things done pretty quickly." Nitro said as he was still impressed.
"Indeed." Megapunk says adjusting his glasses, "Say you ready for your surgery?" He asks Nitro.
"Ready as I will ever be. Afterwards, I can properly train myself to get stronger and face off against that wolf again in the future." Nitro said with eagerness in his eyes.
"Alright, Just take this cup and drink it." Megapunk gives Nitro a small paper cup with a purple fluid in it. "Oh and Miss Hailee, please leave this area now."
"Hmph, fine since you're the very high ranked scientist that the admirals will be mad at me if I don't follow his orders." Hailee grumbles as she left the laboratory.
"Heh, how do you deal with a handful like her?" Megapunk asks with a chuckle.
Nitro chuckles a bit as well. "A lot but trust me, I am a lot more into women that has a backbone like her." Nitro said as he looked at the cup. "Smells a bit funny but I'll drink it." Nitro said as he drunk down all of the liquid in one go. "Didn't taste that bad. Surprise it wasn't...grape...flavored...." Nitro states as he quickly passed out from drinking it.
"Well, that took him out quicker than expected. Should probably ease on the anesthesia next time." He says as he puts on his gloves and his black round blowtorch goggles as the giant arms on Megapunk's back start reaching toward the limp body of Nitro.
2 Hours Later
Megapunk was seen still as he lifted his arms away from the body of Nitro. He lifts up his glasses and looks at his result. He sees Nitro lying on the table, with the newly attached left arm on him. The arm glowed in the indigo patches as the crystal logia was attracted to the arm and covered the inside of the arm. Megapunk smiles as he sees the result complete as a success. "Guess I better call Admiral Fermi." He says as he detracts his arms as they fall back into his outfit as he walks over and clicks on a den den mushi, "Admiral Fermi, this is Dr. Megapunk. Project: Nitro Boost was a success! Come down and see for yourself. The patient should be awake within a half hour."
"Splended. That was fast indeed. I will be there in an even faster time." Fermi said as he hung up his den den mushi as he proceeds to head out of his office in order to meet up with Megapunk in his lab. After not too long later, Fermi ends up in the lab.
"I take it there wasn't too much difficulty. I would say not considering how reasonably fast the process was. And here I was about to chew out Casper for taking too long with laundry duty." Fermi said with his arms crossed.
"Well there really wasn't too much difficulty besides removing the clavicle and shoulder plate." Megapunk responds, "But once that was off, putting everything on was easy! His left arm should now be strong enough to handle direct cannonfire easily! I even mentioned that it may be strong enough to handle meito graded blades!"
"Meito blade caliber weapons huh?" Fermi said as he went over to Nitro and look closely at his arm. "Yes. I can tell that it is quite durable. Impressive work as always. This doesn't take away from the fact a damn pirate is the cause of this, but that could very well come back to bite that pirate. I can even tell his Devil Fruit powers are already responding naturally to it. That's good news." Fermi stated.
"Heh, I can imagine him making some crystal constructs out of that arm." Megapunk states, "Like some big crystal diamond shaped shield that would unsheathe itself out of one of the patches."
"I see. His Devil Fruit is very effective for offensive and defensive purposes. I felt like he was focusing too much on the "offensive" aspect, but that is subject to change. I do intend on putting him through training once he wakes up. Of course, that will be in line on what I also have planned for myself. Naturally, that is where my special raid suit will come in handy." Fermi stated looking over at Nitro then Megapunk.
"Ah yes, well now that this project is done, that should be my main focus for the next couple of weeks. Trust me, it'll be done before you know it." Megapunk responds, "Here, wake that boy up with this." He throws a smelling vial over to Fermi which would be used to wake Nitro.
"Alright." Fermi said as he waved the smelling vial over Nitro's nose who instantly woke up from it.
"Gah! T-That's super putrid...Huh? Admiral Fermi? What's going on?" Nitro asked as he looked over at his arm. "Right...I nearly forgot after taking that weird drink earlier."
"That's besides the point. How is the arm? Is it functioning properly for you?" Fermi askes with his arms still crossed.
"Well..." Nitro says as he was moving it around pretty normally. "It does feel good. Like if my old arm wasn't there. I may have to get used to the whole robotic thing, getting the colors to shift around, but other than that, it's good! I'm just glad to have a set of arms again." Nitro stated.
"Good, good. As I've said, this is still a reminder for you to be careful this time, and of course to bring Justice upon the pirate that did this. However, this may end up helping you in the long run." Fermi stated.
"Indeed, that arm may be able to have quite a punch too." Megapunk states, "Any pirate you face will be dealing with that up close."
"A punch huh?" Nitro said as he looked at his arm. "Though I am mainly a swordsman it seems a bit odd to suddenly just start punching things."
"You need to expand your horizons. Not just rely on your swordsmanship. You're a Logia like me, you need to rely on your Devil Fruit powers especially how effective yours can be. I know I don't have much to say as I often rely just on my Devil Fruit powers as well, but I intend to fix that." Fermi said with an even more serious look.
"He's been that way ever since Kong had been taken down. I wonder what is up with him?" Nitro thought to himself.
"Right...." Megapunk responds nodding, "Now I'm sure you all have things to do now." He says as Hailee would enter the lab.
"Damn that minosaur and Casper! Them two are messing around in the laundromat." Hailee says dusting off, "That bull trying to see how many machines he can lift and Casper daydreaming over his new girlfriend....."
"Wait, Casper with a girlfriend? I didn't think he'd have the nerves to have one. I am interested to see how that will play out." Nitro said with an impressed look in his eyes.
"That is the least of our worries...And indeed you know of my request I better get to contacting Curie." Fermi said as he was looking at his den den mushi and noticed the black one was gone. "Dammit Arama! She's stealing my transponder snails again!"
"Welp looks like a large family right here." Megapunk chuckles looking at the group, "Speaking of which, I need to check in on my daughter. Mind leaving folks so I can have my own time now that this business is done for now?"
"Right. Same on my end I have some words with my own daughter of mine. We will leave you to your business. Nitro, Hailee, we are leaving." Fermi said as he head out of the door.
"Yes sir. Thanks again Dr. Megapunk." Nitro said as he followed behind Fermi.
"Pfft, I'm a Rear Admiral. Why am I getting ordered around like this......" Hailee grumbles as she follows Nitro. "See you around Megapunk."
"Have a good day everyone." Megapunk waves off as he turns back to his desk and continues on his work before calling his daughter on the den den mushi.
