Smith W. Edward is a Vice Admiral in the Marines. He is the father of infamous pirate Chance E. Bill. He is also the user of the Samu Samu No Mi, or the chilly-chilly fruit. For his looks and his devil fruit, he earned the nickname, Captain Iceberg. He also is an instructor for the younger marines.
Appearance[]
Iceberg is very tall, being 6' 10". He also is a pretty muscular guy for being 51. He usually has a white beard on his face. He also has a white ponytail with his hair. He wears samurai armor when he goes into battle. The Samurai armor is blue with red shoulder pads. He usually carries a hammer or a 9-foot sword to battle also while he has his devil fruit ability. He also wears a cross on some of his gear and has a necklace of a wooden cross to represent his christian faith.
Personality[]
With him being a father, he was a strict father when his son was with him. He would have Bill train and practice and marine skills needed. He also had Bill read books about Marine law and history. But despite forcing Bill to work and train hard, he's a very caring father and sometimes worrisome of Bill.
With some of this information, he is very loyal to the marines. He always wears the marine cape wherever he goes. He always praises the great things they have done.
He also is very religious, he wears a cross on his gear and has a wooden cross for a necklace to show his christian faith. He prays every morning and night and blesses his crew and anyone he meets. He prays before every meal when his crew is going to eat. This makes him very gentlemanlike and mild-mannered with his language.
He also has a love of pets. He owns five cats a dog at his mansion in the Goth Islands in the North Blue. The cats names are Bride,Phillip,Jack,Rose, and Larry. His dog is a german shepherd named Bismarck. He has a white horse named Titanic.
He is a great leader when it comes to leading a ship. Every young marine he commands loves him and adore him. He returns the love every time to his younger marines with praises of them from himself. The other fellow admirals respect Iceberg for being a hard fought veteran. As he has been in the marine service since even before Gold D. Roger's beheading by the marines. The kind of justice he serves is absolute justice. He believes the law is the law. He will enforce the law with no regret.
Abilities and Powers[]
He is a very strong man, since he can carry a hammer that weighs three hundred and thirty pounds. Even for a fifty-one year old he can still carry it. He also is a skilled swordsman as he has used swords since six years old when he hold his first sword. He even mastered seven styles of sword fighting.
He also is knows a few styles of martial arts as a samurai from his training. He knows at least three forms of martial arts.
As a user of haki, he uses observation to find out what is his opponent's next move and other things about his opponent, like his emotions, and where he is. He also uses armament haki to help elevate the damage he gives for his attacks.
He also is very skilled with the use of his devil fruit he has. He perfected it at the age of thirty-six nearly after twenty years after have eaten it. He has been known to freeze a whole army before with it.
His devil fruit is the chilly chilly fruit, which he can manipulate snow and ice. Since he mastered it, he can do many things, like:
Snow Projection - he can project snow towards his enemies. He has been known to make a snowball between his hands and the snowball would hit his opponents.
Ice Projection - he can project ice towards his enemies.
Snow Wave - he can launch a wave of snow at his enemies
Ice Wave - he can project ice as a wave at his enemies
Cold Touch - if he touches something, willingly it would be frozen over
Ice Pound - if he hits the ground with his fist, he can freeze any of his opponents over with ice.
Ice Construction - he can create objects with snow and ice. He can create walls and buildings to axes and swords
Cold Breath if he breathes on someone with a chilling effect, it would freeze anyone.
Snow Rasengan - he spirals snow into a sphere and hits his target while the ball is spiraling.
Orb of Ice - he can create an orb of ice and if it is projected, the opponent is trapped in ice
Ice in air - he can create a wall of ice in midair to throw people up there or as a platform
Icebreaker - he can fall into the earth as snow or ice and reemerge from the ground.
Ice fists - he can cover his fists in ice
Ice slide he can slide around on ice
Ice/Snow Doppelganger - he can create a doppelganger of himself using ice or snow, and with his training, he is able to have it move
Weapons[]
As a samurai and a marine, he has been known to carry these weapons:
Holy Hammer - A weapon he gotten at age 16 when he able to carry it. It weights at a ridiculous three hundred and thirty pounds. With the grip of the weapon being about two meters long. He made this weapon known when he fought pirates at the Goth Islands beach called Pen's Beach.
History[]
Edward was born in the Goth Islands of the North Blue. He was born into a family of holy warriors that the family led. The group of the holy warriors were The Holy Line. The Holy Line is a group of christian warriors that protected the Goth Islands. Most of the warriors were samurai, as was Iceberg. Iceberg was welcomed in by the Holy Line when he was eight.
His time with the holy line was long. He couldn't carry the sword of the holy line till he was thirteen. So he was training since he joined the holy line. He would train every day except sunday where he would devote his time to God. He would also devote his time to God everyday for two hours, but sunday was all-day study for him.
When he was 15, he was protecting the outskirts of a village in the Goth Islands when vikings came in and tried to raid the place. He was the only samurai there, and he was facing ten thousand vikings. He killed them all before they even got to the village's gate. For this, he was promoted to a leader at age sixteen. Where he would command armies of warriors if needed.
Before his promotion, he would find a devil fruit that one of the vikings carried it. Many people told him to eat it immediately, but he refused. He said when the time came for him to eat it he and God will know. He would carry the devil fruit wherever he went and would protect it.
It wasn't until four years later he would eat it. When an army of very powerful pirates would attack the island. He would lead an army of warriors and so would his fellow comrades that were leaders. But they lost a lot of warriors and pirates on that beach where they fought. It wasn't until Edward was injured and on the ground when he would eat his fruit that was still in his robe.
When he learned what his devil fruit was, which was the Chilly-Chilly fruit, he would freeze every pirate into ice there and bash every single pirate with his giant hammer. After the battle, he would thank the lord for saving him and would take the head and spine of the captain of the invading pirates before going back to his house in the Goth Islands.
As a result of eating the devil fruit, Edward couldn't swim, and he had white hair after the battle. After that battle, he would be known as Iceberg, for his looks and his power.
When he was 21, he would join the marines when the marines recognized his actions in the battles he partaken in. He would join them while serving the Holy Line still since he was born into the family of the Holy Line. He would fight in wars for both the marines and the holy line, And because of him, the holy line and the marines became allies. Soon because of the Marines, the Holy Line would expand to not just the Goth Islands, but to thousands of islands around.
When Edward joined the marines, he would be given the rank Ensign already for his actions in the two battle before he joined. He would join the Marine Academy to learn more about being a part of the marines. Turns out, he was smart in the War department in the Marine Academy. He was so smart, that they promoted him lieutenant at the age of 24 when he graduated from marine academy.
Then he gotten involved in a battle against some pirates in the sea. The pirates would kill his captain. He then would lead the marines into a victory and would sink their ship after the battle. He was then promoted to lieutenant commander at the age of 25 for his feats and for leading the marines when doubt was in the shadows.
He was then promoted to commander when he was involved in a raid. There was this raid of pirates attacking this marine fort Edward was stationed in. Edward would lead the marines valiantly in successfully defending the fort.
At age thirty-six, he would perfect the power of his chilly-chilly fruit. Making him one of the most powerful marines in the world.
But at age 34, to protect his son he thought, he would do something that he would probably regret for the rest of his life. He killed his brother in law, who was a pirate. Iceberg killed him when he commanded his crew to invade his brother in law's ship and killed him in his bedroom. Iceberg said he would always defend the righteous, but he has since conflicted himself if it really was righteous because of his son's betrayal to the marines and his moral beliefs.
He serves now as a Vice Admiral in the Marine regime and a part time instructor.
